We all see the world in a particular way. This way of seeing the world is called "a point of view". When people who have a particular point of view meet other people who have the same or a similar point of view, a community is created. So long as these members of this particular community meet other people who share their point of view, the community has its own sense of belonging to something greater. This is what ancient writers refer to as "the sum is greater than the equal of its parts". In other words, each member brings something special to the group or community, something only he or she could bring. And, when we put together all of these special gifts each member brings to the community, we have something that could not have existed before. Therefore, a new reality now exists that did not exist before.
This community comprised of individuals who have the same or similar points of view, now recognize that the community is greater than each member could be as individuals. Because the human mind works in a particular way, this sense of seeing the world from a unique point of view not only makes the community special, but over time, they begin to think there is only one way to be and to see the world, is from their point of view.There are many stories in the Bible. One describes how a particular community lost sight of the point of view that had brought them together and made them one people or community.
